Combining technical resources with software-focused translators, SimulTrans is able to provide complete consumer software localization services.
SimulTrans has a large and experienced team of localization engineers and a separate software quality assurance and testing department. SimulTrans also provides full translation services insuring the successful translation and localization of help and documentation files.
Experience with Consumer Software
SimulTrans works with a wide array of consumer software, including both packaged retail software and hosted applications. SimulTrans routinely localizes the following types of applications, in addition to many others:
- Database management
- E-commerce
- Educational
- Email and communication
- Games
- Graphic and photo editing
- Hardware drivers
- Office productivity
- Personal information managers
- Social networking
SimulTrans has developed an extensive knowledge of consumer software terminology and how to properly internationalize it. Our skilled team of specialized translators is trained on each client’s products.
SimulTrans’ translation teams work with the industry’s leading standard translation memory tools such as Trados, Idiom, Catalyst, and Passolo to translate text while creating memory that can be reused. The use of tools ensures consistency between translations across multiple projects, for updates, across components, and in similar products. Each client owns the translation memory files, a valuable asset that can be used long into the future.
Localization Engineering
Over the years, SimulTrans has developed an extensive knowledge of consumer software engineering. Through this experience we are able to offer localization services for applications developed using Java, Microsoft .NET, Visual Studio and other development environments.
SimulTrans works with both workstation and browser- based software in formats such as C#, C++, ASP, JSP, PHP, Cold Fusion and others. We localize applications that run on Windows, Macintosh, and Linux desktop computers, as well as server-based software for Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP/UX, and AIX servers.
Localization Testing
SimulTrans has a full software quality assurance department skilled in reviewing functionality and user interface layout. The QA engineers work with linguists who review terminology to verify translations are correct and display properly in context. SimulTrans takes the QA process very seriously, segregating the QA staff from engineers, logging all bugs, and performing regression testing after defects have been corrected.
Consumer software requires a robust testing environment. SimulTrans uses localized operating systems for testing localized applications and creating screen captures. To fulfill clients’ needs, SimulTrans has comprehensive testing labs, provides testing at clients’ facilities, or can test applications remotely.
