I heard today that a customer was pleased to hear that SimulTrans created a new Linguistic Services Manager position last month. We moved a valuable long-time SimulTrans team member into this role, taking advantage of her over 14 years of professional translation experience with a track record of managing translation teams and diverse localization projects.
The Linguistic Services Manager is a key member of the Resource Management team. This position's main focus is to maintain and continuously improve the overall linguistic quality of SimulTrans' projects, ensuring customer and end-user satisfaction.
The main duties of the Linguistic Services Manager include the following:
- Drive the linguistic quality program across the organization (e.g., best practices for terminology management, query handling, revision, non-standard translation projects)
- Measure the development of SimulTrans vendor performance in terms of 4 KPIs: quality, service, cost and capacity, including random linguistic sampling.
- Serve as an escalation point for handling and resolving translator issues (all actions recorded in QA database).
- Ensure all SimulTrans localization services comply with or exceed ISO 9001 and EN 15038 requirements
- Design project-specific QA reviews customized to meet client requirements.
- Manage and train SimulTrans' in-house translation teams.
- Reduce linguistic risks by participating in project kick-off meetings to ensure that appropriate linguistic requirements are in place and any gaps identified (e.g., glossary, style guide, subject matter experts, reference material, and source content).
SimulTrans and our clients will benefit from this new dedicated role focusing on linguistic quality, ensuring consistent and superior translation results. |
